Benefits of Shopping at The Limited, Including Jodi Arnold!

Recently, I took a little trip out to The Limited to see Jodi Arnold's new collection for the chain. I had not been to The Limited in years. Not because I don't like their clothes, I do. I just don't wear the professional suits and dresses they are known for into the office anymore. Times have changed, and some days, I am working at home from the computer wearing my best sweat suit or jeans and a t-shirt. So, I haven't thought I needed to stop into The Limited for "the real sale" as their old jingle advertised. Jodi Arnold bought me in, and what a wonderful surprise. Her collection is quite simply amazing, and not just because of the price point, but because of the quality and the handwork on each piece. I have long admired the designer's work. Her trademark touches include embellishments with beads, embroidery or applique, beautiful detail around the neckline to highlight your face and lovely prints. All these touches have been incorporated into her Jodi Arnold for The Limited collection at a reasonable price point. The most amazing thing about this collection is how well-made it is.

Jodi Arnold for The Limited is a great designer at a great price. You won't see pieces of this quality from a big box retailer. If you haven't stopped into The Limited in a while, you should check it out. I say that because I think when something good is offered to consumers at a reasonable price point, consumers need to send a message to the store that we like this and want more of this.
Check out the graphic above with the list from The Limited of  the benefits of shopping there. Students and teachers are eligible for special discounts. Pant hemming is free if you are a The Limited card holder.  Some good savings there.

New Simply Vera, ELLE and Lauren Conrad on Sale at Kohl's until March 20th

Just a little heads up for those looking for some cheap and chic deals, Kohl's is having a super sale today. I headed out this am to take advantage of the early bird specials. My goal was to pick up some new items for home and going out at a slight discount. Before 1 pm PST and 4 PM EST, there were specials throughout the store. And some of the savings continue this weekend.  All Lauren Conrad items are on sale for 30 to 40% off and there is new Simply Vera in stock.  My favorite find was the above Apt. 9 green sweater, just in time for Saint Patrick's day.  This is on sale for $21.99. Its so cute, and has a real vintage feel with the jeweled covered buttons on the placket.  I also love the new green Simply Vera dress with the cute little ribbon tie top (pictured below).  For an upcoming event, I splurged on this LC satin top with the little lacey pocket.  I like the romantic prints, ribbon trims and little bows on the Lauren Conrad stuff.  This collection has been such a surprise.  And of course the ELLE and Dana Buchman collections continue to deliver affordable fashions.  ELLE even has a killer denim motorcycle jacket this season. Dana Buchman's collection offers some amazing one piece swimsuits to help you get ready for warmer weather.  I had now idea DB now included swimwear, but its really good looking.

Pictured: Savings on Kohl's fashions include discounts on Simply Vera, ELLE, LC and Dana Buchman until March 20th.

Also, all my Oscar jewelry and style picks from earlier this week are now on sale.  Some of the costume jewelry is under $5.00!  For more savings, watch for Kohl's Power Hour specials. Remember, if you shop early or late at Kohl's during their power hours, you reap some savings! Check Kolhs.com for the details. If you sign up for their email, list you'll get a coupon to save $5.00 plus regular updates on when the power hours are.

Beyond fashion, I scored some great items for my home (Food Network) and a special Dr. Seuss "Lorax" book for my little niece.

Jean Paul Gaultier Arrives at Target Today, March 7

Pictured: Early images from Gaultier's Target Line

The new Jean Paul Gaultier collection for Target arrives in stores today.  Here in California, the clothes are just being put on the racks at some stores. There are tattoo leggings, tattoo swimsuits, rock star-like T-shirts, plus some floral dresses and a leather jacket.  The most promising piece to me looks like the rolled collar floral dress (maybe also the trench.)  The floral dress is already sold out online with some reviewers saying it reminds them of Prada.  I will be heading to my local Target after another large coffee to see if that can possibly be true :)
Pictured: Rolled Collar Floral Dress in Pink/White $39.99

Pictured: If the quality of this garment's material is good, this JPG Strapless Dress in Black $59.99 or its alternate Lingerie Dot Dress in Green/Black $34.99 (pictured above under the trench) could be a winner.

Pictured: A more typical JGP look, Leather Moto Jacket in Brown/Red $199.99, Tank Dress in Red $34.99 Dress Also available in Navy/Cream
Its a big wait and see. What do you think? I see shades of McQ's 80s look here.  Have any of you already purchased from the collection?  Click here to read my review of the collection.

Gap's Denim Recycling Program: Save 30% on New Jeans and Donate Your Old Jeans

Have you seen the recycling containers at your local Gap Store? From March 5 through March 14, you can donate old denim that will then be given a “new life” by being converted into UltraTouch natural cotton fiber insulation and donated to communities in need.  The two-week denim drive is part of Gap’s “Recycle Your Blues” event, where customers who donate denim will receive 30 percent off new denim purchases from Gap, GapKids or babyGap through March 14.  And, my understanding is it can be any denim that you donate, not just denim purchased from the Gap.  I am putting together a big old bag today of all my beyond repair thread worn jeans in sizes I don't wear anymore.  I love the idea that my old jeans could be turned to insulation to help keep someone warm.  With that incentive, I will clean my closet!

The in-store program is featured on Gap’s online consumer site, as well as at Cotton. From Blue to Green. Be sure and check it out.
